At Night
At Night
Dark colors panther pages
of little golden books,
acrid ink assaults your nostrils
hairs on the back of your neck rise.
Wolves where grandma should be.
Houses endangered by the huff, the puff.
Evil dreams, haunts and haints,
snake eyes at midnight.
Let nothing pirate your peace.
Befriend yourself.

“Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive…”
– Thich Nhat Hanh, activist, author, and teacher (1926 - 2022)
