Days are Braided
Days are Braided Days are braided through the years. Our daughter was born on this day. She woke me early on a frozen morning for my first labor. January 5, 1980 It was my mother’s birthday; she was my grandmother’s second child. 1924 My grandmother’s firstborn, a son, my uncle died on this day. 1993 Our family’s special days continue, entwined. Our second daughter was born on a day shared with my brother and my mother’s brother. January 9, 1983, 1962, 1930 Our third daughter and my aunt, who was also my godmother, share a birthday. February 4, 1985, 1919 If each day is a strand in the thick braid of a year, 365 ribbons of time, long grasses, fiber optic threads, each one is golden. Days emit pure light. -Mary Louise Peters
