One Name
One Name One names fails to encompass, falls short of praise. One name is plainness. “Rose” does elicit full perfume, only hints at bud, blossom, petals tossed by wind or sprinkled by toddler’s chubby fist. One name is like chiseled marble, a lifeless cherub with garlands. One name congers incompletely. Rosa gallica officinalis in a blue glass bowl, fuss-less fuchsia floats in fullness. Creation blushes. -Mary Louise Peters
